“If we all would pick up a piece of plastic of the street every day, the Netherlands would be free of plastic litter”. That’s the sentence that got stuck in my mind after reading the book The Hidden Impact*.
How such little effort can have such a huge impact.
So I started. Every day I picked a piece of litter of the street. Randomly, often the first thing that caught my eye. I didn’t just stick to just plastic as in the inspiring book, because how could I walk past a soda can that someone just minutes before dropped on the street? Every week I ended up with seven pieces of litter: my weekly trashure.
Things seen as trash, can become a treasure again. It’s just the way you look at it.
